Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates

Welcome to the CCI’s Summer Research program for undergraduates! If you are a sophomore or junior interested in gaining hands-on laboratory experience in cutting-edge materials chemistry, we welcome you to apply to our program by contacting CCI Managing Director Jennifer Lyon at lyon[at]mail.utexas.edu.

Undergraduates working in the CCI Summer Research program take part in new exploratory research that investigates the molecular-level arrangement of polymer materials that can be utilized for many modern applications including solar cells, printable electronics and polymer LED displays. Students work closely with graduate students in the labs of CCI faculty.

Undergraduates who have worked with the CCI in the past have conducted hands-on research in cutting edge polymer chemistry, including the separation of infinitesimally small amounts of polymers, and observation of their shape and structure one molecule at a time. Our undergraduates have also used Raman spectroscopy/microscopy to obtain unique molecular signatures and structural information for custom-designed polymer molecules.

CCI Summer Researchers can work in the labs for a period of 4 or 8 weeks and are provided a stipend. Contact us for more information!
