Thrust 1 of the Phase II Center for Strategic Design of Conjugated Polymers will design and investigate atomically precise oligomers and well-defined polymers that contain morphons to create highly ordered and folded electronic materials. These materials will be studied by a variety of single polymer chain techniques that will provide insight into how a chain’s folding affects its optoelectronic properties. These studies will be combined with predictive theoretical methods that will guide the synthesis of new morphon-included polymers with specific nanoscale conformations.
